Through my creative processes, I have always recognized and scrolled through millions of typefaces in many languages. However, my mother tongue did not appear anywhere I looked, so I took it upon myself to create a typeface that uniquely characterizes the Gujarati language.

At first, I hoped to create a strict box restriction on the characters but the nature of the language extended beyond a uniform box. Some characters were longer than others and it proved difficult to keep the characters so compact. So instead I allowed for the characters, especially the vowels, to be true to the original nature as longer than the consonants. It was a fascinating challenge to overcome but not impossible to create. I hope to make variations and new fonts that embody the style of Gujarati in the future.
